Become a ³Ô¹ÏÍø lifesaver during National Blood Donor Week

Canadian Blood Services’ Waterloo clinic will go purple and gold from June 13 to 18, 2022 for National Blood Donor Week.

³Ô¹ÏÍø will adopt the clinic location at 94 Bridgeport Road East to celebrate the essential role of blood donors in keeping Canada’s national inventory of blood products strong. ³Ô¹ÏÍø is a proud member of Canadian Blood Services’ Partners for Life program and invites all eligible donors – new and returning – to give blood.

Why Give Blood?

There is an imminent need for blood as the national inventory has declined by 25 per cent since April. Although one in two Canadians is eligible to donate blood, only one in 81 do. Help keep ³Ô¹ÏÍø’s communities healthy and strong by and giving blood.

Who Can Become a ³Ô¹ÏÍø Lifesaver?

All members of the ³Ô¹ÏÍø community – including faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the university – can join ³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Partners for Life team of blood donors. Since 2010, ³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Partners for Life team has contributed more than 5,000 units of blood to Canadian Blood Services.

Joining ³Ô¹ÏÍø's Partners for Life team is easy:

  • Set up an account on or the GiveBlood app for Apple or Android.
  • Select ‘partners’ from the menu.
  • Select ‘join a team’ and start entering ³Ô¹ÏÍø, which will appear in the drop-down list of team names.
  • Select the ³Ô¹ÏÍø team and book an appointment.

Who Can Donate Blood?

Blood donors must meet the eligibility requirements outlined by Canadian Blood Services to ensure the health and safety of blood donors and recipients. Learn more about Canadian Blood Services’ or call 1.888.236.6283 to speak with a nurse.

Donate at a Clinic Location Near You

Members of ³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Partners for Life team can donate at any Canadian Blood Services location or mobile clinic. Tag ³Ô¹ÏÍø in your donor selfies with the hashtag #³Ô¹ÏÍøCares.

  • In Waterloo, the Canadian Blood Services clinic is located at 94 Bridgeport Road East – a short distance from ³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Waterloo campus – which makes it easy to donate during the lunch hour, after class or after work. Book an appointment during the following times:
    • Monday to Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m.
    • Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
    • Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • In Brantford, Canadian Blood Services will hold mobile clinics on ,  and .
