The following general terms and conditions apply to the following:
2.1 Award: is granted on a competitive basis for a combination of academic achievement and participation in extra-curricular activities such as volunteer work or involvement in campus sports or clubs. Awards always require the submission of an application form.
2.2 Bursary: Granted on demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic achievement.
2.3 Scholarship: Granted on a competitive basis for outstanding academic achievement. Based on recorded marks, or by application, in which other factors such as extra-curricular activities or volunteer work will be considered. Financial need is not a consideration.
2.4 Competitive Basis: The selection process where candidates are evaluated against one another based on predetermined criteria such as academic performance, extra-curricular involvement, or leadership skills.
2.5 Extra-Curricular Activities: Organized, non-academic activities like sports, clubs, volunteering, or other community involvement. Participation in these can be considered when applying for awards and scholarships.
2.6 Academic Achievement: A measure of a student's performance in their studies, usually represented by post-secondary grades or GPA,
2.7 Financial Need: A calculation of a student's financial situation, typically assessed through an application form.
2.8 Application Form: A required online submission that students complete to apply for bursaries or scholarships.
2.9 Automatically Granted: Refers to scholarships that do not require an application form, as they are based on pre-determined qualifications like academic records. These scholarships are automatically provided to students who meet the established criteria without needing to apply separately.
2.10 Approved Five-Year Honours Double Degree Program: The following programs are eligible to be considered on year four academic achievement:
3.1 The Entrance Scholarship is offered based on your admission average. No application is required.
3.2 Entrance Scholarship recipients must meet all eligibility requirements:
3.3 Bachelor of Education students are not eligible for the Entrance Scholarship.
3.4 The Entrance Scholarship is offered based on an applicant’s admission average using final grades as of July in their year of entry.
3.5 Transfer credits are not included in the determination of eligibility for Entrance Scholarships.
3.6 Entrance Scholarship Values: The grid below indicates scholarship amounts, and the required admission averages to obtain them. Scholarship values are subject to change. This scholarship grid is valid for incoming students beginning in September 2025.

3.7 The President’s Gold Scholarship is a renewable Entrance Scholarship for up to four years (or five years for approved double degree programs) based on an admission average is 95% or higher.
3.8 President’s Gold Scholarships are granted upon admission and are renewable for subsequent academic years if all the renewal requirements are met:
3.9 A student must be registered full-time (minimum 2.0 credits per term) to receive the full entrance scholarship amount. A student must register full-time in at least two terms within their first academic year (an academic year at ³Ô¹ÏÍø is from September to August).
3.10 The value of the Entrance Scholarship is split between the first two terms of and automatically applied to the student account at the time of fee assessment each term, if the student meets the full-time registration requirements.
4.1 Entrance bursaries are available annually to incoming applicants. To be considered for an entrance bursary, applicants are required to complete an application by the outlined deadline. To be eligible applicants must meet all eligibility requirements:
4.2 Second entry programs, such as the Bachelor of Education are not eligible for this program.
4.3 Applicants receiving the Entrance Bursary are not eligible for the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Tuition Bursary in their first year.
4.4 Entrance Bursary recipients must be registered full-time (minimum 2.0 credits per term) to receive the full entrance bursary amount. A student must register full-time in at least two terms within their first academic year (an academic year at ³Ô¹ÏÍø is from September to August).
5.1 The ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award is an annual entrance scholarship to offer high-achieving students the opportunity to participate in a dynamic learning environment that will foster innovative thinking and ethical, visionary leadership.
5.2 Students are required to meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award, which includes:
5.3 You must have a final admission average of 90% as of the beginning of July (for current Ontario high school applicants) or as of the middle of July (for all other applicants).
5.4 The ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award admission average requirement is based on an applicant’s admission average using final grades as of July in their year of entry.
5.5 ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award Value: The total value of ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award is $40,000 scholarship over a four-year period. The award includes $7,500 per year for up to four years and an experiential learning award of $10,000.
5.6 The ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award is granted upon admission and are renewable for subsequent academic years if all the renewal requirements are met:
5.7 If you withdraw or register to study part-time for more than one academic term in the academic year, you will no longer be eligible to receive the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award.
5.8 The ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award cannot be deferred. Applicants seeking to defer their offer of admission may reapply for the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award, subject to the eligibility criteria and competitive selection process in effect at the time of reapplication.
5.9 By applying for the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award, you agree to allow your name and program of study to be used by the University to create and maintain a public record and feature recipients on ³Ô¹ÏÍø's websites for the purposes of promoting and celebrating the Award program.
6.1 The CIBC STEM Entrance Award is available annually to incoming applicants as of Fall 2025.
6.2 To be considered for a CIBC STEM Entrance Awards, applicants are required to complete an application form by the outlined deadline. To be eligible applicants must meet all eligibility requirements:
6.3 CIBC STEM Entrance Award recipients must be registered for full-time studies (a minimum of 2.0 credits is a full-time course load at ³Ô¹ÏÍø).
6.4 CIBC STEM Entrance Award Value: $5,000 will be granted to 15 recipients.
6.5 The CIBC STEM Entrance Award cannot be deferred. Applicants seeking to defer their offer of admission may reapply for the CIBC STEM Entrance Award, subject to the eligibility criteria and competitive selection process in effect at the time of reapplication.
6.6 By applying for the CIBC STEM Entrance Award, you agree to allow your name and program of study to be used by the University to create and maintain a public record and feature recipients on ³Ô¹ÏÍø's websites for the purposes of promoting and celebrating the Award program.
7.1 The Stay Golden Scholarship is an entrance scholarship offered to incoming international students in the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 cohorts.
7.2 Bachelor of Education students are not eligible for the Stay Golden Scholarship.
7.3 The Stay Golden Scholarship is offered based on your admission average. No application is required.
7.4 The Stay Golden Scholarship is offered based on an applicant’s admission average using final grades as of July in their year of entry.
7.5 Stay Golden Scholarship recipients must meet all eligibility requirements:

7.8 The Stay Golden Scholarship are granted upon admission and are renewable for subsequent academic years if all the renewal requirements are met:
7.9 Stay Golden Scholarship recipients must be assessed and paying international tuition and incidental fees during the terms they are eligible for the Stay Golden at ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholarship. Students who are approved for domestic tuition and incidental fees forfeit the Stay Golden at ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholarship and are eligible for ³Ô¹ÏÍø’s in-course scholarship.
7.10 Stay Golden Scholarship recipients admitted to and entering combined undergraduate and graduate programs are eligible for funding during their undergraduate program only.
7.11 Stay Golden Scholarship recipients who withdraw from ³Ô¹ÏÍø for longer than one academic year, you are not eligible for the Stay Golden at ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholarship.
7.12 The Stay Golden Scholarship cannot be deferred. Applicants deferring their offer will be considered for the Entrance Grid Scholarship at the time of readmission, based on eligibility and availability at that time.
8.1 Milton Founders Scholarships support the top entering students at the Milton campus in Fall 2024.
8.2 There is no application for the Milton Founders' Scholarship; eligible applicants will automatically be considered and notified if they are successful recipients.
8.3 If you are a recipient of a Milton Founders' Scholarship, you must meet all conditions below to receive your award:
8.4 Milton Founders' Scholarship Value: the total value is $5000 which is distributed over four years at $1,250 per year.
8.5 To receive a Milton Founders' Scholarship in your first year you must be registered for full-time studies (a minimum of 2.0 credits is a full-time course load at ³Ô¹ÏÍø).
8.6 The Milton Founders' Scholarships cannot be deferred.
8.7 Milton Founders' Scholarships are granted upon admission and are renewable for subsequent academic years if all the renewal requirements are met:
8.8 If a Milton Founders' Scholarship recipients transfer to another campus, they will forfeit their scholarship.
9.1 Deferrals are not guaranteed. For information regarding deferral processes visit the Defer Your Offer webpage.
9.2 The following awards cannot be deferred:
9.3 Scholarship and bursary availability, value, or eligibility requirements are subject to change. Applicants who defer their offer may face different terms and conditions at the time of readmission.
9.4 Applicants who defer their offer may be considered for the Entrance Scholarship at the time of readmission, based on the eligibility criteria and availability at that time. The value of the Entrance Scholarship may increase or decrease depending on the scholarship terms in effect during the year of enrollment.
9.5 Applicants who defer their offer may have the opportunity to apply for an Entrance Bursary in the year they plan to enroll at ³Ô¹ÏÍø, provided they meet the bursary's eligibility criteria and submission deadlines in effect at that time.
9.6 The Stay Golden Scholarship cannot be deferred. Applicants deferring their offer will be considered for the Entrance Grid Scholarship at the time of readmission, based on eligibility and availability at that time.
9.7 The ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award cannot be deferred. Applicants seeking to defer their offer of admission may reapply for the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Scholars Award, subject to the eligibility criteria and competitive selection process in effect at the time of reapplication.
9.8 The CIBC STEM Entrance Award cannot be deferred. Applicants seeking to defer their offer of admission may reapply for the CIBC STEM Entrance Award, subject to the eligibility criteria and competitive selection process in effect at the time of reapplication.
9.9 Applicants selected through a competitive process who defer their offer will forfeit their scholarship. They may reapply for available competitive Entrance Scholarships upon readmission, subject to the eligibility criteria and deadlines in effect at that time. It is the applicant's responsibility to be aware of all scholarship application requirements.
10.1 Students may receive only one of the following entrance scholarships or awards:
10.2 However, students may accumulate the following scholarships, awards, and bursaries in addition to the above:
10.3 The monetary value of all scholarships, awards, and Bursaries are subject to change. ³Ô¹ÏÍø reserves the right to change the listed award, scholarship, or bursary value and/or requirements without notice.
10.4 If you have received any scholarship, award, or bursary, the amount may be adjusted or revoked if you withdraw or drop to part-time studies. Please reach out to studentawards@wlu.ca with any specific concerns.
11.1 Every attempt has been made to be clear in the communication of the terms and conditions outlined in this document. In the event of any interpretive disputes, ³Ô¹ÏÍø reserves the right to render a final determination on eligibility for scholarships and renewability. There is no appeal process available for competitive entrance scholarships and institutional scholarships. Interpretation of grade and academic equivalencies is solely at the discretion of ³Ô¹ÏÍø.
11.2 Clarifying amendments to the terms and conditions for scholarships may be made by ³Ô¹ÏÍø without notice.
12.1 Eligible candidates must be admitted to a four-year, full time, undergraduate degree program and satisfy any/all conditions included in an official offer of admission, including the fulfillment of academic conditions, confirmation of offer and payment of tuition deposit (if required) by all noted deadline dates.
12.2 If a deadline date falls on a weekend or statutory holiday in Canada, the next business day will apply.
12.3 Grades of CR do not impact the required minimum overall GPA. You must still meet all other eligibility requirements.
