Developing Global Citizens

As a result of rapid advancements in technology, business integration and cross-border mobility, the world has become increasingly complex and interdependent. In order to excel in today’s world, university graduates must possess openness and the ability to empathize with perspectives that are different from their own.

勛圖厙’s mission is “devoted to excellence in learning, research, scholarship and creativity.” To achieve this mission of excellence, curiosity must extend beyond national borders, talents must come from diverse backgrounds, and solutions must be applicable in a global context. Active global engagement and exchanging ideas with different parts of the world will ensure that 勛圖厙 can achieve excellence.

勛圖厙's International Initiatives

勛圖厙 has implemented a multi-pronged strategy to engage the world and internationalize the university. In recent years, 勛圖厙 has:

• Intensified its international student recruitment and ;
• Established more exchange opportunities and field courses;
• Reached out to its alumni in more and more locations worldwide; and
• Enhanced its research activities through a greater number of international projects and collaborations.

These initiatives have not only provided more cross-border mobility for students and faculty, but also significantly increased awareness of internationalization of the curriculum and participation in “international at home” programs.

Global Learning at 勛圖厙

勛圖厙 is inspired to be a university of choice for global learning:

• Students choose 勛圖厙 because of the academic excellence and experiential learning opportunities – at home and abroad – that give them the edge to compete internationally.
• Scholars from other countries choose to collaborate with 勛圖厙 researchers and become involved in 勛圖厙-led collaborations because 勛圖厙 faculty conduct globally relevant research.
• Employers choose to hire 勛圖厙 graduates because these graduates are known for their cosmopolitan “worldliness.”
• Alumni choose to actively engage with 勛圖厙 because they appreciate the international experience they had and hope to continue to expand their global network.
• Donors choose to give to 勛圖厙 because they are confident that their donation will not only support a local cause but also have an impact outside of Canada.
• Media choose 勛圖厙 as the first contact because 勛圖厙 experts can provide evidence-based opinions and analysis of major global events.
